With more than 350 days of sunshine per year and warm, mild winters. The area has been a magnet for Hollywood stars since the 1930s when Bing Crosby, Charles Farrell and Ralph Bellamy founded the area's first tennis club in Palm Springs. Crosby would go on to found the Blue Skies Trailer Park in Rancho Mirage, unique for its expensive trailer homes each with its own individual theme.
Joshua Tree National Park If you love the adventure of discovering something very different, you’ll be awed by Joshua Tree National Park, located in Southern California just a 30 minute drive east from Palm Springs. It contains over 1200 square miles of high altitude desert with bizarre geological features and a unique ecological system. It was named for the strange looking Joshua Tree that flourishes in the area. You won’t find a better place to climb rocks than at Joshua Tree National Park, but you won’t run into many sightseers |

Indian Canyons If you enjoy hiking and interesting scenery, the Indian Canyons in the Palm Springs area offer hours of enjoyment . . . naturally. People have been discovering unique landscapes in this desert area since 1890. Especially interesting are Tahquitz Canyon and three southern canyons, listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Palm and Andreas Canyons have the most and second most California Fan palm trees in the world, with Murray Canyon listed as fourth. |

Aerial Tramway On a hot summer day, nothing is more welcome than a trip on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway; you'll experience a 30-degree difference between the valley floor and the mountaintop. You’ll probably need a sweater even in July! As you climb aboard this rotating tramcar, the beauty of the mountain aerial views will amaze you. It’s a real adventure to ascend two and a half miles to a lovely wilderness area at Mount San Jacinto State Park. Desert Museum The Palm Springs Desert Museum's permanent exhibits include a 20th century art gallery, Mesoamerican art, Western and Native American art, a George Montgomery collection including his wonderful sculptures, a William Holden collection, a miniature collection and a gallery of 19th century landscapes.
